Gun Lodgings

This was constructed between 1559-65, to carry all the heavier armament of the castle. The parapet, now covered by a turf, dates from one of the seventeenth-century alterations- probably that of 1632, when the already blocked original gunports were largely masked by a new facing both within and without.
